The Immigration Department today announced changes to the caregiver program. They are launching 2 new 5-year pilot programs. With the new programs, the processing of permanent residence for caregivers would be totally different than the current process.
Under the new program, the caregiver may be able to come with their family members to Canada. This program will also allow flexibility of changing jobs and may also help their spouse obtain an open work permit
They are also opening an interim pilot program for caregivers who are currently in Canada working as caregivers and are unable to apply for permanent residence.
